UAE payroll has more moving parts than UK payroll. The Wage Protection System is mandatory. Gratuity calculations are unique. End-of-service settlements can trip up the most careful operator.

WPS-compliant monthly payroll

Salary calculation, payslip generation, WPS SIF file generation and submission via your bank. Every UAE company with employees must run WPS or face fines from MoHRE.

Gratuity provision

21 days basic salary per year for first 5 years, 30 days thereafter. Provisioned monthly so end-of-service is funded, not a surprise hit to cash flow.

End-of-service settlement

When a UAE employee leaves, we calculate the final settlement: unused leave, gratuity, notice pay, deductions. Submitted to MoHRE and paid through WPS.

GPSSA pension (UAE nationals)

If you employ UAE nationals or GCC nationals, GPSSA pension contributions are mandatory. We register, calculate, and remit. Most non-Emirati employers miss this and get caught at audit.

Visa-status-aware payroll

UAE residence visa vs visit visa changes employment classification. We track each employee's visa status and adjust accordingly so you don't accidentally pay an employee whose visa has expired.

Annual leave and overtime tracking

UAE Labour Law gives 30 days annual leave after first year, with carry-forward rules. Overtime is 25% premium (50% on holidays). We track and accrue so payslips reflect entitlement correctly.

UAE payroll questions founders actually ask.

Do I have to use the Wage Protection System?
If you have UAE employees, yes. WPS is mandatory through your business bank account. Salaries must be paid through WPS or you face fines starting at AED 1,000 per delayed salary. Some free zones (DIFC, ADGM) have alternative compliance but Meydan, IFZA, DMCC, JAFZA, Shams, AFZ all require standard WPS.
How is gratuity calculated?
For continuous service over 1 year: 21 days of basic salary per year for the first 5 years, 30 days per year thereafter. Calculated on the last drawn basic salary (excluding allowances). Capped at 2 years of basic salary total. We calculate this monthly and show it in your management accounts so it's never a surprise.
What's GPSSA and do I have to pay it?
GPSSA is the General Pension and Social Security Authority. If you employ UAE nationals, you pay 12.5% employer contribution and deduct 5% employee contribution, remitted monthly. GCC nationals (Saudi, Bahraini, etc) have separate rates per their country's social security treaty. Non-Emirati employees: no pension contribution.
Can you handle UK payroll for our UAE-based UK employees?
Yes. If you have UK Ltd employees still in the UK, we run UK PAYE alongside UAE WPS. Cross-border payroll for UAE-based UK passport holders is handled through the UAE entity (no UK PAYE if they're non-UK tax resident).
What software do you use?
We integrate with Zoho People, BambooHR, and Bayzat (most popular UAE-native HR platform). If you don't have an HR system yet, we recommend Bayzat for 1-50 employees. Setup time: 2-3 days.
What happens with end-of-service settlements?
When an employee leaves, we calculate: unused annual leave, accrued gratuity, notice pay (1-3 months depending on contract), deductions for any loans. Submit via MoHRE and pay through WPS. Settlement typically processed within 14 days of the leaving date.
